The John Deere S100 Riding Lawn Tractor is designed for homeowners who want an easy-to-operate mower for routine residential lawn care. Its combination of a 42-inch cutting deck, hydrostatic transmission, and 17.5 HP single-cylinder engine makes it well suited for lawns of up to about one acre.
The S100 uses John Deere’s 42-inch Edge™ Cutting System, which features a two-blade stamped steel deck. Cutting height can be adjusted from approximately 1 to 4 inches in 1/4-inch increments, allowing the mower to handle different grass conditions throughout the season.
A hydrostatic transmission with side-by-side foot pedals makes speed and direction changes straightforward. Instead of manually shifting gears, the operator can control forward and reverse movement directly from the pedals, which helps make mowing around landscaping, trees, and other obstacles more convenient.
The tractor is powered by a 17.5 HP single-cylinder gasoline engine with approximately 500cc displacement. Full-pressure lubrication and an oil filter are designed to support dependable operation and routine residential use.
Operator comfort is supported by a roomy platform, an 11-inch back seat, easy-to-reach controls, and a spring-assisted deck-lift lever. The welded steel frame and cast components provide a solid foundation for regular mowing work.
The S100 can also accept compatible accessories such as baggers, mulch equipment, carts, blades, and other attachments, depending on the exact configuration and accessory compatibility.
